Hello and welcome! My name is Katherine Murt, and I am a senior at The Pennsylvania State University. In the nooks and crannies of this E-Portfolio you will find the hard evidence of a transformative experience that I have undergone since my first days on campus as a lowly freshman. As I prepare to graduate, I am leaving Penn State with degrees in English and Media Studies, the latter with a concentration in film and television. The fact that I am leaving with two degrees is a testament to my transformation as a student, as I added on a second major after discovering that my passion for film and television was not a mere hobby but could be a new facet of my higher education.

Studying in both the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Communications has been crucial in developing my skills as a communicator, and my grasp of the English language has enabled me to parlay my skills into numerous other endeavors, from newspaper writing and editing to handling public relations for various student organizations. In this portfolio you will find examples of my work that include opinion writing, academic essays, public relations material and special interest writing that highlight how diverse my communicative experiences at Penn State have been.
